Siddipet is a city in Siddipet district of the Indian state of Telangana. It is a municipality and the headquarters of Siddipet mandal in Siddipet revenue division. Siddipet is the education hub in Siddipet district. The Government Degree College is the second biggest college in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh. The college campus also consists Osmania University’s Post Graduate College that offers courses including MCJ (Master of Communication and Journalism), MA (English), MA (Economics), MSc (Organic Chemistry), MBA and MCA. However, the PG College is going to withdraw MCA course from the academic year 2014-15. Ending Osmania University MCJ department’s monopoly over MCJ course, local MLA Tanneru Harish Rao had introduced the MCJ course in the PG College in 2013 after a brief fight with the state government. Siddipet also has a Govt. Degree College for Women. There are 3 Engineering Colleges in Siddipet: Indur Institute of Engineering and Technology, SSR Engineering College and Medak College of Engineering. There are three B.Ed. colleges, Andhra Pradesh College of Education in Duddeda, Islamia B.Ed College, Mustabad road and Princeton College of Education in Ponnala.There is one Pharmacy college SRI KRUPA INSTITUTE OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES ( www.srikrupaips.com ) near Duddeda village. There are more than 50 temples in Siddipet and approximately 25 temples surrounding the town. Sri Bhogeshwara Swamy and Sarabheswara Swamy temples are oldest temples located in the town. Many people believe that there is a secret under ground way between these two temples. another beautiful temple is The Lord Shiva temple, known as Kotilingala Gudi, was constructed by Sadguru Sree Madanananda Saraswatee Swamiji. Thadkamadla Mallaiah Gupta family, who worked very hard in completing the temple with graces of Sadguru Sree Madanananda Saraswatee Swamiji and is located near the Medak X Road. Sri Seetha Ramaswamy Temple is another old temple. Siddipet is also known for its historical monuments like Lal Kaman and Burj. Lal kaman is built with red stone hence it is called as Lal Kaman,Recently it has undergone renovation and restored it to its original condition. Many people say that
there used to be 72 Burj in and around the city but all of them are got destroyed with no maintenance only one Burj is found now.

Siddipet is famous for dhabas; most of the dhabas are located in a village called Ponnala,Siddipet city outskirts. Siddipet is also famous for Kachori’s and Prem Nagar’s (masala poori).
Nearest railway stations are Jangaon which is 55 km away, Warangal, 80 km and Secunderabad 85 km from here. There has been a plan for a railway line connecting Hyderabad and Karimnagar via Siddipet but it has not yet been implemented. In 2010-11 Railway Budget, Railway department announced a plan to start survey for this railway line. If this track is complete, it reduces the distance between Hyderabad to Delhi by 60–70 km
A new line from Akkanapet to Siddipet was proposed for survey in 2013 Railway Budget 2013.
And there is also a plan to construct a new line from Siddipet to Kazipet Junction.
Siddipet has two Bus Stations which are Old for Ordinary Services, New for Express, Deluxe and Luxury services and a Bus Depot. The depot has 103 buses and convers 6 mandals i.e. Siddipet, Mirdoddi, Togutta, Kondapaka, Chinna Kodur, Nangnoor. The depot operates 2 interstate services from Siddipet i.e. Mumbai and Gondhya.
